Sylvain Gagnon
Coming from Montreal, Sylvain Gagnon has extensive international touring and recording experience. He is a virtuoso of jazz double bass and electric bass, with a musical repertoire spanning continents and styles. From rock to standard jazz, from Carnatic (classical music from South India) to African music, and from funk to Latin music, Sylvain’s versatility shines through in solo performances, big bands, string quartets and orchestral performances.
Sylvain has played on hundreds of albums. He has collaborated with musicians including Bob Mintzer, Eric Marienthal, Joey Calderazzo, Jeff “Tain” Watts, Angelo Debarre, James Morrison, Olivia Newton-John, Scott Hamilton, D. D. Jackson, James Gelfand, Daniel Lavoie, Magella Cormier, Tiger Okoshi, Eugene Pao, and Ted Lo. In Hong Kong, he has performed with renowned artists including Leon Lai, Sandy Lam, Miriam Yeung, Bianca Wu, Justin Lo, Christopher Wong, George Lam, Teddy Robbin, Jacky Cheung, William So, Jackie Chan, Priscilla Chan, Roman Tam, Tsai Chin, and with the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra and City Chamber Orchestra of Hong Kong.
Sylvain has played on over a hundred jingles, dozens of movie soundtracks, and toured internationally with his own band and many internationally acclaimed musicians. He has also appeared in many movies, TV series and talk shows as a musician. His latest CD, Blue Moon, has been a bestseller in Hong Kong.
